Liverpool have been minor players so far this summer in the transfer market with Jurgen Klopp deciding not to emulate his rival clubs on forking out the big amounts to bring in star names.
Ibrahima Konate’s arrival on Merseyside earlier this summer remains the only piece of transfer business done by the Anfield camp but the young Frenchman’s addition does add much-needed depth to the Liverpool backline.
Rival clubs, meanwhile, have been rampant in their spending with Manchester United adding Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane to their roster while the defending champions Manchester City seek mega-money moves for England international duo Harry Kane and Jack Grealish.
What the Reds could do with the start of the new campaign less than two weeks away is induct fresh blood into the first-team ranks and achieve that on the cheap with Liverpool not having the surplus funds at their disposal the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City can boast of this summer.
Here are three players we believe would be perfect cut-price signings for Liverpool –
1. Manual Locatelli
The 23-year-old defensive midfield star was a star turn for the Italians during their Euros-winning campaign this summer and Locatelli has made his name known across Europe with his fine run of showings for both club and country this past year.
When you first sign up to a bookie and check out the odds, you’ll notice that Liverpool are heavy favourites to beat Serie A giants Juventus to land Locatelli with the latter experiencing difficulties in meeting €40 million being demanded by Sassuolo.

Locatelli’s arrival could provide Klopp with a fantastic replacement for the outgoing Gini Wijnaldum and the price-tag is not steep enough for Liverpool to ponder over considering the player’s talent and age.
2. Lorenzo Insigne
Another member of Roberto Mancini’s Euros-winning Azzuri camp is the Napoli star frontman Lorenzo Insigne whose future with the Italian outfit beyond this summer’s transfer window remains subject to much uncertainty.
Recent reports have suggested that Napoli are now seeking a €25 million worth bid for parting ways with the 30-year-old wide player who has been one of the top attacking talents in Serie A football in recent years.
Liverpool are in need of fresh firepower for their attacking ranks after saying their goodbyes to Harry Wilson and Insigne’s arrival will be of paramount importance to the Merseysiders who lack quality depth in the wide roles.
3. Renato Sanches
€30 million is all it will take for Liverpool to prize away the much-coveted signature of Renato Sanches from Ligue 1 holders Lille who are resigned to shipping out the highly-promising midfield talent this summer.
Sanches has been eyed up by both Liverpool and FC Barcelona but the Catalan giants are unlikely to step their chase for the 23-year-old owing to pricing concerns at Camp Nou, giving Liverpool a chance to make the move for the Lille man on the cheap.
Wijnaldum’s exit from the Liverpool midfield leaves a major void for Klopp to fill this summer and the boss could be willing to give Sanches the role on the starting team sheet for the Merseyside giants.
