Former Tottenham and England No.1 Paul Robinson has urged Liverpool FC to make a move for free agent Daniel Subasic in order to improve upon the backup spot at the club for the goalkeeping position.
Subasic played for AS Monaco until last season and was a pivotal figure for the Ligue 1 outfit between the sticks, however, with the Croatian international now being at 35 years of age, his best days are certainly very much behind him.
But Robinson still believes that Subasic will be an upgrade over current Reds’ shot-stopper Adrian, who has endured a terrible spell of recent showings, especially in the 7-2 humiliation of Jurgen Klopp’s men by Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Speaking to Football Insider, the ex-England international said, “Subasic is an outstanding goalkeeper.
“A top goalkeeper that did brilliantly for Croatia in the World Cup. I am very surprised that he is still a free agent. I thought somebody would have snapped him up by now.
“Adrian is out of form and his confidence looks shot to pieces.
“If Alisson is going to be out for six weeks, Subasic would be an outstanding signing for them.”
The Reds were rumoured to be in the fray to make a last-minute move for Stoke City’s Jack Butland, however, recent speculation has suggested that Butland’s move to Anfield may not materialise in the mini-domestic transfer window that is open until Friday.
