Jurgen Klopp says Everton look proper title-challengers under Ancelotti

Jurgen Klopp has voiced his admiration for the veteran football manager, Carlo Ancelotti, who will be in the opposing dugout to the German’s come Saturday at the Goodison Park for the season’s first Merseyside derby fixture.

Ancelotti’s Everton, surprise table-toppers in the early stages of the 2020-21 Premier League campaign, play hosts to the Reds in what is widely tipped to be a much-awaited showdown between the two arch-rivals.

The Toffees have been immense in their on-field displays of late and Ancelotti’s summer signings in James Rodriguez, Allan, and Abdoulaye Doucoure, has worked magic for the Merseyside Blues, which was applauded by Klopp in a recent chat with BBC Football.

“What I think about Carlo Ancelloti was never a secret. I couldn’t respect him more. He’s a wonderful human being,” Klopp told BBC Football Focus.

“When I heard he was going to sign for Everton I thought ‘Uhhh, the next proper challenger in line’.

“They did the perfect business in the summer. They found exactly the players that they needed to improve an already pretty good football team.

Since the appointment of the ex-Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and AC Milan coach in December last year, Everton have witnessed a gradual rise in their level of play on the pitch, which has made the club’s fans harbour intentions of sealing an unprecedented yet highly possible title-winning triumph in the ongoing season of top-flight football.
