Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman has voiced his delight at having secured a last-minute loan swoop for the in-demand Harry Wilson, despite the Welsh international being linked with a move to Swansea City on the deadline day of the English domestic transfer window.
Wilson’s future at Anfield beyond this summer had been subject to a great deal of uncertainty, but he failed to seal an exit before the October 5 deadline, leaving the Premier League champions with the sole option of loaning out the 23-year old for the course of the season.
And Cardiff City, promotion candidates for the 2020-21 Championship campaign, secured Wilson’s signature, with a number of other clubs in Derby County, Stoke City, and Swansea City, all reportedly interested in making the move for the Welshman.
Speaking to BBC about Cardiff’s transfer approach for the Liverpool FC attacker, Dalman said, “We structured something we believe is competitive. The numbers being thrown around are nowhere near the mark.
“I think it’s a very good win-win situation and for the player. As far as getting this transaction done, I think we’ve done very good business. Liverpool were very supportive.
“Obviously we have a good history with Liverpool. It was easy to have that conversation.
“We’re very pleased. In fact, we’re thrilled to have Wilson on board.
The Welsh international faces a tough time returning to the first-team fold at Liverpool FC, and only a consistent run of great showings for Cardiff will convince Jurgen Klopp to include Wilson in the club’s plans for the coming years.
