Diogo Jota has been named the UEFA Champions League Player of the Week award following his hat-trick heroics for Liverpool FC against Serie A side Atalanta in the mid-week UCL fixture in Italy.
The 23-year-old, the Reds’ third and final summer signing of 2020, was in red hot form in front of the goal on Tuesday night and got his name on the scoresheet three times as he continues his splendid run of showings over the past few weeks.
Well in, @DiogoJota18! 👏 #UCL

Jota’s nomination for the Champions League honour was challeneged by other names in the list such as Sevilla’s En-Nesyri, Borussia Dortmund star forward Erling Haaland, and Monchengladbach’s Plea.
With the Portuguese international displaying one of the best attacking performances amongst his teammates in the Liverpool FC squad, Jurgen Klopp has a major decision to make regarding his team selection for Sunday’s visit to the Etihad Stadium for the Premier League showdown against Manchester City.
Whether Jota replaces the under-fire Roberto Firmino once again in the starting XI remains to be seen, however, ex-Liverpool FC and England attacker John Barnes is not convinced of the in-form Jota being upto the standards to displace Firmino ahead of the game against Pep Guardiola’s men.
