Lashing out at pundits who have been vocal in their criticism for the misfiring Liverpool FC forward Roberto Firmino, Jurgen Klopp has jumped to his player’s defence, reminding people that the Brazilian international still remains one of the club’s most important star players.
With Diogo Jota in the form of his life following his big-money move to Anfield, Firmino could find himself out of Klopp’s first-choice XI over the coming few weeks if his rustiness in front of the goal does not seem to end for good.
Pundits across England have openly spoken against Firmino’s inclusion in the starting XI for upcoming fixtures, instead choosing to lay full focus on the brilliant showings displayed by Jota in recent weeks, amid a huge clamour for the ex-Wolves man to form a new front trio along with Sadio Mane and Mohammad Salah.
However, Klopp was defiant in his support for Firmino, while speaking to the Daily Mail ahead of the league game against Manchester City on Sunday, with the Reds’ manager emphasizing upon the fact that Firmino has come clutch for Liverpool FC on a number of occasions, even without getting his name on the scoresheet.
“In so many games he was the difference-maker without scoring and then with scoring in other games.
“I would feel embarrassed if I have to mention the qualities of Firmino. I can’t help these people, sorry. If they don’t see it, I can’t help them. That is how it is.
“People who are with us, I don’t have to say one word on how important he is. People who are not with us, I don’t care what they say about him.”
