Gini Wijnaldum’s latest comments sparks doubt over his Liverpool future

Liverpool FC and Dutch midfield star Gini Wijnaldum, whose stay at Anfield comes to an end next summer, remained coy over signing a contract extension with the Reds when pressed upon his future at the club by reporters whilst on international duty.

Speaking to Het Parool, a local publication in Holland, the 29-year-old Wijnaldum refrained further from divulging any information regarding his contractual talks with Liverpool FC, instead saying that the Merseyside club should be posed the question over his extension.

“I can’t say anything about that.

“Just ask Liverpool those questions. Don’t they answer?

“I cannot say anything about it, including whether or not there is talk of a new contract between me and Liverpool. Sorry.”

With less than a year to run on his current deal with the Premier League champions, Wijnaldum is one of the very few star players of Jurgen Klopp’s side who is yet to commit his long-term stay at Anfield.
Interest in the Dutch star from abroad has been widespread reportedly, with Inter Milan and FC Barcelona rumoured to be in the fray to make a move for Wijnaldum should his contract be allowed to run out at Liverpool FC.
