Jordan Henderson released from England duty over fears of hamstring injury

Liverpool FC skipper Jordan Henderson was released from the England senior squad, confirmed reports published on the club’s official website, Liverpoolfc.com, as fears over the midfield’s supposed hamstring issue continued to rise ahead of this weekend’s game against Leicester City.

The 30-year-old will now be returning back to Anfield, where he will be subject to further assessment for his ongoing hamstring niggle, with a later call being made upon his contention for Sunday’s Premier League game at home turf.

During Sunday’s 2-0 loss to Belgium in the UEFA Nations League, Henderson had been withdrawn at half-time owing to a bit of tightness in his hamstring, as was later clarified by England manager Gareth Southgate.

After being ruling Henderson out of Wednesday’s fixture against Iceland, Southgate has understood to have relented on releasing the duo of the Reds skipper and ex-Liverpool FC forward Raheem Sterling back to club duties as league action returns following a two-week-long break.
