Xherdan Shaqiri eyed by Galatasaray in a loan move

Xherdan Shaqiri’s stock in the Liverpool FC first-team squad has plummeted down in recent times, and with the Swiss international now being just another fringe player at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal, it comes as no surprise that latest reports from the Liverpool Echo claim that Shaqiri could be heading to Turkey on a loan deal this January.

Galatasaray are believed to be keen on signing the Liverpool FC winger on a loan basis to shore up their attacking options. The Turkish outfit’s boss Fatih Terim is the one who is spearheading the approach for Shaqiri, with Terim even having gone on a scouting mission to watch the 28-year-old in action during the recently concluded international break.

Last season turned out to be a disappointing spell on the sidelines for Shaqiri at Anfield, as injuries severely curtailed the Swiss attacker’s game-time for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Despite promises of stepping up to the challenge this time around, it feels as the ongoing season will turn out to be of a similar fate for Shaqiri.

The ex-Stoke City star has been sparingly by Klopp across all competitions, with Shaqiri having made a majority of appearances in the EFL Cup ties of the Reds before Arsenal knocked them out of the tournament.

A move to Turkey looked quite potential for Shaqiri this summer as well as it was Fernabache that time around that were after the flamboyant winger, but it remains to be seen whether Galatasaray steps up their interest to land Shaqiri’s signing in January.
