Gini Wijnaldum made his 200th appearance in the Liverpool FC colours during Sunday’s 3-0 win over Leicester City, with the Dutch international putting in a solid shift in the centre of the park for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
However, the midfielder’s future at Anfield looks highly uncertain beyond next summer with his contract running down. And recent reports from the Daily Express suggest that the player has made up his mind on sealing an exit come July 2021.
With interest from abroad understood to be rampant in the Dutch midfield star, reports indicate that the Reds may be tempted to cash in on Wijnaldum in the upcoming winter transfer window, solely motivated by the factor of not losing out on the player for free.
FC Barcelona are still being regarded as the frontrunners in the race to snap up Wijnaldum’s signature, despite recent interest in the 29-year-old from Serie A giants Inter Milan as well.
Liverpool FC were quite interested in extending Wijnaldum’s stay at the club amid recent reports of a massive wage bump being offered to the player, but the Merseysiders’ efforts have gone to no avail as Wijnaldum looks forward to ending a five-year-long stint in the Reds shirt next summer.
