Dutch starlet Perr Schuurs plays down Liverpool links

Ajax centre-back powerhouse Perr Schuurs responded to speculation linking with a move to Jurgen Klopp’s side in January after turning out against his rumoured suitors in Tuesday night’s Champions League game at Anfield.

Recent reports had suggested that the Merseysiders were keen on bringing the 21-year-old to Anfield in the upcoming winter transfer window following an injury crisis affecting Liverpool FC’s defensive department,

However, after featuring for his team in the 1-0 loss to the Reds, Schuurs attempted to play down rumours indicating that he was on the move to the Premier League champions in the very near future, with the youngster, as quoted by Express, insisting that he was keen on performing better for Ajax in the seasons to come.

“Interest from Liverpool in me? I am not busy with that. I want to win trophies with Ajax first and stay here for a couple of seasons.”

Schuurs put in a solid showing at the back for Ajax despite the Dutch giants suffering a narrow one-goal defeat to Liverpool FC following a second-half strike from the in-form Curtis Jones.
Long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez have left the Merseysiders on the verge of going into the next transfer window with the sole objective of adding fresh blood in the centre-back spot to the first-team ranks at Anfield.
