Ahead of Liverpool FC playing hosts to Tottenham Hotspurs in the mid-week Premier League clash at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp issued a rich vein of praise for Spurs gaffer, Jose Mourinho, terming his North London side a ‘results machine’.
Spurs come to Anfield on Wednesday having gotten off to a brilliant start to the 2020-21 league campaign, sitting on top of the Premier League standings ahead of their upcoming opponents Liverpool FC on goal difference.
And in his pre-match interview, Klopp admitted that his side would need to be on the guard to prevent any sorts of upset being handed out to them by Mourinho’s men, with the German hailing the impact of the Spurs’ frontline led by the fantastic Harry Kane- Son Heung-min pairing up top on the pitch.
‘I’m not surprised (that people question Mourinho) because that’s the world we are living in,’ said Klopp, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
‘You are very successful until yesterday. And if you cannot prove it today, then people go for you. I don’t think he was surprised at that. But he showed comeback skills.
‘It’s very impressive what they did at Tottenham, the way they played this year is really good. He turned them into a results machine. They have good performances and if they are not on top form they still win. They defend collectively, very impressive.
‘At all times when you play against Tottenham, it’s clear that you have to make sure that Harry Kane is not too much involved in the game, which is difficult. With Son Heung-min it’s the same, and the working relationship they have at the moment, it clicked properly.’
Wednesday’s game at Anfield would prove to be a nail-biting encounter between two very well matched sides in Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspurs as the chance to go clear on top of the league table with three points remains up for grabs.
