Wolves eye surprise move for Liverpool wantaway star Gini Wijnaldum

La Liga giants FC Barcelona have been joined by Wolves in the race to sign Liverpool FC contract rebel Gini Wijnaldum, with the Dutchman now free to talk to other clubs over a free tranfer in the forthcoming summer transfer window later this year.

Wijnaldum’s current deal with the Premier League holders runs out in July and the former Newcastle United man has so far been relucant to offer his opinion on the speculation surrounding his long-term future at Anfield.

Both the player and the Merseyside outfit are understood to be keen on signing on extended terms, however, Wijnaldum’s wage bump demands is tipped to be the stumbling point in the contract talks.

Wolves’ interest in making a move for the Holland international, as reported by the Sun, is believed to the Midlanders’ desire to find an ideal replacement in the transfer market for the ageing midfield veteran Joao Moutinho.

FC Barcelona, however, lead the line to sign Wijnaldum should the 29-year-old opt against putting pen to paper on a new deal in the Reds shirt.
