Liverpool join the chase for Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan

Liverpool FC’s injury-depleted backline might convince Jurgen Klopp to dip into the transfer market this January in spite of the German coach insisting that his side’s potential business over the month-long period remains under a shadow of a doubt.

According to reports from the Express, Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan has caught the eye of the Merseyside giants, who currently have the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip on the recovery table at Anfield.

Inconsistent form of late has led to many of the staunch Liverpool FC supporters calling out their team to use the January transfer window as an opportunity to add fresh faces to the first-team squad of Jurgen Klopp, with Simakan being the latest of addition to the shortlist.

The 20-year-old defender is highly rated in France on the back of his great displays for Strasbourg in top-flight football across the country and AC Milan reportedly leads the race to sign the player.

Bundesliga club RB Leipzig are speculated to maintain a strong level of interest in making a move for Simakan, however, Liverpool FC’s resolve to go through January without splurging the cash on fresh blood could be tested with Simakan’s name doing the rounds around the Anfield outfit.
