Matchup in the FA Cup is a first between the two sides in nearly nine years, with the tournament being just one of the very few trophies that has eluded Jurgen Klopp’s increasing accoalde haul since his appointment to the top job at the 19-time league champions.
Liverpool FC’s progression further into the FA Cup was secured when the Merseysiders clinched a 4-1 victory over a youthful Aston Villa side last week as an outbreak of COVID-19 at Villa Park meant that the Midlands-based club were unable to field their first-teamers.
Solskajer’s men, meanwhile, narrowed through Championship side Watford in a 1-0 win courtsey of a goal from stand-in skipper Scott McTominay.
