Divock Origi could end up staying put at Anfield beyond this January transfer window amid talks of Wolves cooling their interest in signing the Belgian international forward.
The 25-year-old Origi had been tipped to take the exit door out of Anfield before the deadline-day of January 31 as first-team involvement has been particularly hard to come by the former Lille man’s way for the last couple of seasons whilst in the Liverpool FC colours.
And with the UEFA Euros scheduled for mid-2021, Origi’s need for game-time had meant that the Belgian could be forced to seek a move away from Jurgen Klopp’s side, with Wolves the leading candidates to sign him as a short-term cover for the injured Raul Jimenez.
Reports from the Mirror, however, claim that the Midlands-based outfit have turned to makeshift options in attack to account for Jimenez’s skull-injury sideline and that Origi is no longer a prime candidate to target in the ongoing transfer window.
Origi has been used sporadically this season by Klopp, with the striker making a majority of his top-flight appearances off the bench in the final moments, besides from being omitted in last week’s FA Cup tie as well for the Anfield outfit in their 4-1 win over Aston Villa.
