Brighton has made it clear to Liverpool FC that they would have to fork out £44 million to nab the much sought after signing of central defender Ben White.
According to reports from Don Balon, the 23-year-old White remains a major target for Jurgen Klopp’s outfit, especially amid the ever-increasing injury list at Anfield.
With season-ending layoffs expected for the first-choice centre-back pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, Klopp’s urgency to add to his defensive options has been narrowed down to an approach for long-term target White.
The Englishman has established first-team regular credentials this season at the Amex on the back of a plaudit-worthy loan spell in the Leeds United shirt across the 2019-20 Championship campaign and looks increasingly close to sealing a move to a bigger club across England’s top-flight division.
Reports of Manchester United’s interest in the defender have emerged as well but for now it is the Reds who lead the widely-contested race to land White’s signature should they agree to Brighton’s pricing demands.
