Jurgen Klopp plays down Mohammad Salah’s contract situation at Anfield

Jurgen Klopp played down rising concerns over his star forward Mohammad Salah’s contract situation as the Egyptian international seeks a much-improved deal to be tabled in front of him should Liverpool FC want him to extend his stay at Anfield.

The 28-year-old Salah’s future in the Liverpool FC colours hangs in the balance following recent talk of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid wanting to make a move for the rumoured-to-be unsettled Reds star in the aftermath of what was a rather blunt interview given to AS by the ex-Chelsea man.

However, Klopp appeared unmoved by the rumours floating around regarding Salah’s unhappiness whilst at Anfield as the Liverpool FC gaffer insisted in his pre-match interview ahead of the FA Cup clash against Manchester United that the ongoing speculation will have no detrimental effect on the Merseyside outfit’s campaign.

“It is a normal thing in the world of football,” said Klopp, as quoted by the Mirror.

“Mo didn’t make a speech, It’s not that we go out and talk about things that we think are important. It’s pretty rare that happens.

“We get asked questions and we answer – that is the end of the story.

“But it always sounds like we started the conversation.

“In Mo’s case it is not like that. I don’t think it will distract this season.”

Liverpool FC’s drastic slump in form of late has largely been attributed to a series of shallow attacking displays by the Salah-led frontline, with Thursday night’s defeat to Burnley meaning that Jurgen Klopp’s side had failed to find the back of the net in each of their last four outings in Premier League football.
