Jurgen Klopp’s misfiring Liverpool FC side are set to receive a major boost ahead of Thursday’s visit to North London as reports from The Telegraph suggest that Jordan Henderson is likely to feature for the Reds against Jose Mourinho’s Spurs.
The England international midfielder has been missing in action for the last week and the Liverpool FC skipper’s last appearance on the pitch came in the goalless stalemate against Manchester United at Anfield.
Henderson’s absence in the Premier League holder’s lineup had meant that James Milner was given the captain’s armband and a spot in the centre of the park for Klopp’s men last Sunday at Old Trafford for the FA Cup tie.
The 30-year-old Henderson has witnessed a major shift in his role on the pitch in recent times owing to the major injury crisis at Anfield sidelining the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, which in turn has forced Klopp’s hand in slotting in his trusted midfield general to the heart of the backline.
Despite earning plaudits for his showings in a makeshift centre-back role, Henderson is expected to command the midfield again come Thursday as Joel Matip’s inclusion in the XI, after sitting out the weekend meeting at Old Trafford, looks certain as well.
