Jurgen Klopp has urged his players to come out of their recent slump in form in Premier League action and bounce back with results in their favour to reclaim their once-assumed status of ‘the team nobody wants to play against’.
Liverpool FC’s results in top-flight football of late have left the Premier League holders’ sitting in the fifth spot in the standings and many amongst the club’s fanbase have cast fears over the Merseysiders missing out on Champions League football for the next season.
And ahead of the midweek clash on the road against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspurs, Klopp was optimistic in assessing his team’s recent run of form as the German coach insisted that the players are working hard in training to return to much-needed winning ways and remain committed to striking fear amongst opposition teams.
“I see them working on everything and we’re working as a team on solutions. It’s a complex game and it’s never about one person,” Klopp told reporters in his pre-match interview.
“We have to become the team we want to be and that is the team nobody wants to play against. At the moment, every team is defending deep but we have another chance tomorrow night.
“We played some good stuff against United and we have to be more consistent. We play Tottenham and we have to go game by game. Is it difficult? Yes. That’s how it is in every Premier League game.”
The game at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium comes at a very crucial juncture for the defending champions midway through the Premier League campaign which has been blighted with injuries to key first-teamers for Klopp’s side and contrasting form displayed by star players.
