Fabinho is confirmed absent due to a muscle issue for the Brazillian international and skipper Jordan Henderson once again slots back in at the heart of the defence for Jurgen Klopp’s side going up against Tottenham Hotspurs on the road.
Joel Matip’s return to the starting line-up coincides with his usual centre-back partner’s sidelining despite no previous reports of the midfielder being a fitness concern for the midweek game at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium.
Henderson’s inclusion in the XI comes on the back of a couple of games missed by the Reds captain over the last week but the 30-year-old operates as a makeshift defender owing to Fabinho’s absence which means a rare start in top-flight football for James Milner.
Sunday’s defeat at Old Trafford for Liverpool FC in the fourth round of the FA Cup forces Klopp to recall Sadio Mane back into the side to face Jose Mourinho’s men as the visitors seek to return to much-needed winning ways after recording a sole victory in their last seven games.
