Ozan Kabak nears move to Liverpool on transfer deadline day

Liverpool FC face a race against time for completing the signing of FC Schalke defender Ozan Kabak in the final hours of the January window deadline day.

The Turkish international centre-back had been long reported to be on the radar of the Premier League holders but talk of his move to Anfield had died down in recent weeks.

However, new claims from Sky Sports suggest that Kabak is undergoing a medical checkup in Germany itself due to time constraints as Jurgen Klopp’s seek to finalise his signing just hours after reaching on an agreement with Preston North End for Ben Davies.

The 22-year-old’s potential landing on Merseyside could run into trouble, according to reports, as Schalke are understood to be unwilling to sanction their first-teamer’s departure in the absence of any viable replacements at the German outfit.

Fabrizio Romano’s recent activity on Twitter indicates the possibility of Liverpool FC bringing Kabak to English top-flight football on a loan-to-buy deal, with the Italian journalist claiming that agent fees had been agreed upon as the Bundesliga club remains on the hunt for replacements.
