Liverpool enter fray to make a move for Dutch talent Memphis Depay

Lyon star attacker has caught Liverpool FC’s attention heading into the summer transfer window and reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes claim that the Merseysiders would attempt to lure the Dutchman to seal the move to Anfield.

Depay has been tracked by La Liga giants FC Barcelona for a prolonged stretch of time and with his current deal with Lyon coming to a close this summer, Ronald Koeman’s outfit have gained the upper hand in landing the forward’s much-coveted signature.

Liverpool FC’s interest in signing the Holland international is likely to stem from the fact that Depay would be available on a free transfer and due to the financial implications of COVID-19, the Anfield outfit would have a more in-depth study of the player.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have misfired on their attacking front since the turn of the league campaign and the under-fire form of first-teamers like Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane might convince Klopp to look at reinforcements elsewhere across the continent.

Depay’s last stint in English top-flight football had been for Liverpool FC’s arch-foes Manchester United, where he had massively struggled to make an impact before being offloaded for French side Lyon.
