Bayern Munich chief’s recent comments strokes Mohammad Salah speculation

Bayern Munich have stroked speculation of their interest in Liverpool FC’s main man Mohammad Salah after the Bundesliga giants’ chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge voiced lavish praise for the Egyptian international.

The 28-year-old Salah has been tipped to take the exit door out of Anfield in the upcoming summer transfer window, with the likes of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona keen on landing his signature.

Rummenigge, as quoted by the Daily Mail, said that it would be an honour for his club to have Salah amongst their ranks, adding special praise for the forward and putting him alongside figures such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in modern-day football.

‘At the moment we don’t plan on signing Salah, but certainly it would be an honour to have him,’ Rummenigge said.

‘In my opinion, Salah is the Messi of Africa and of course he has the skills to play for the best teams in the world.

‘What he [Salah] has achieved can be compared to what Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo did with Barcelona and Real Madrid.’

Such remarks are likely to add further fuel to fire concerning Salah’s long-term future in the Liverpool FC colours, one which looks increasingly doubtful beyond the summer of 2021.

The Egyptian is contracted to the Premier League holders until 2023 and reports previously had suggested that the Merseysiders remain keen on awarding Virgil van Dijk with an improved and extended deal rather than open talks with their attacking talisman.
