New signings Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies have impressed boss Jurgen Klopp as the defensive pairing settle into new surroundings on Merseyside and strive to aid an injury-hit Liverpool FC backline.
Both players arrived at Anfield on deadline day after Joel Matip joined the recovery table list with a season-ending ankle injury layoff, adding to the ever-increasing troubles on the injury front for the reigning Premier League champions.
Speaking ahead of his side’s game against Leicester City on the road, an embattled Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp voiced hope of his new recruits meeting the expectations required of them in the Reds shirt, adding that both central defenders had displayed great attitude in training in a very short while since signing for the Merseyside outfit.
‘They are calm people, both Ben and Ozan,’ said Klopp in his pre-match interview.
‘They are willing to learn. Great attitude. They really throw themselves into everything ahead of them, which is what a defender should do. They are making big steps in adapting to the way we play. Again, that’s important.
‘We have still a clear way to defend, which is important. If both of them would be on the pitch then there are still nine players used to what we have done before.
‘It’s all good. Now we have to make a decision. We have to change again because of Fab and we will see which solution we will take.’
Kabak is pushing to be included in the XI for his new club come Saturday at the King Power Stadium due to makeshift option Fabinho being ruled out of the weekend showdown in East Midlands.
