Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp admitted that it was nowhere possible for his outfit to close the gap on table-toppers Manchester City in the aftermath of yet another loss for the Merseysiders in top-flight action.
The Reds slipped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Leicester City on Saturday despite taking the lead through Mohammad Salah in the 67th minute as a brilliant brand of attacking football from the hosts, coupled with terrible decision-making by the Liverpool FC backline, ensured a third straight rout on the run to the defending champions.
Speaking to reporters after the match at the King Power Stadium, Klopp conceded the top-flight crown as the German acknowledged that it would be a hard task at hand for his team to catch up on Pep Guardiola’s high-flying Mancs.
‘Yes, I’m conceding,’ said Klopp, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
‘I don’t think we can close the gap to City.’
Jurgen Klopp’s side remain in the fourth position for now with the eventual possibility of falling down the ladder even further should the likes of Chelsea, West Ham United and Everton emerge victorious in their games across the weekend fixture list.
