Jurgen Klopp rebuffs speculation of Liverpool stars leaving Anfield in the summer

No player in the Liverpool FC first-team camp would harbour intentions of taking the exit door out of Anfield in the summer even if the Reds fail to ensure their spot in next season’s Champions League campaign, said Jurgen Klopp while speaking to reporters ahead of the Fulham clash on Sunday.

Klopp’s Merseyside outfit risk losing out on competing in Europe’s elite club tournament across the forthcoming season after a recent run of torrid form in domestic football has left the defending champions languishing in the seventh spot in the top-flight ladder.

The Liverpool FC boss, however, played down concerns of his star players wanting to leave the club if the Reds failed to secure a top-four finish and guarantee Champions League football, saying that he did not want to pose question marks over his player’s loyalty towards the club.

“That’s nothing we have to worry about.

“I know that we have loyalty. I know them well enough. If a player wants to leave because we don’t play in the Champions League, I don’t want him. It’s nothing I worry about.

“We all expect more. We are realistic about the things we do. I don’t feel like the team leaves me alone in the fire, it’s just how it is.

“Nobody else speaks in the club, nobody above me speaks. In Germany, it’s typical that the CEO faces the questions. The situation here is different. The owners want me to sort the situation.”

The German has been under-fire of late in the aftermath of what has been a woeful start to the new calendar year for the Anfield giants, with the club having picked up just a sole point from their outings on their own patch.

Defeat to Chelsea in the midweek fixture on Merseyside was a fifth straight loss at home for Klopp’s men and has put the coach and his players under massive pressure heading into the weekend tie against Fulham.
