Three players Liverpool should keep tabs on ahead of the summer window

The close of the 2020-21 season can’t come soon enough for Liverpool FC and Jurgen Klopp after what has been a miserable title-defence campaign on all fronts from the Merseyside giants.

Last campaign’s title-winning heroics have merely remained a long-lasting memory in the minds of the Reds fanbase in the aftermath of witnessing their team fall victim to a devastating slump in domestic football.

As the summer transfer window approaches near, Jurgen Klopp is expected to conduct a major overhaul of his first-team ranks and with a number of fringe first-teamers tipped to head out the Anfield exit door, the Liverpool FC boss would be looking at some impressive names in the market.

Here are three such players we feel could make a massive difference for the best in the Reds shirt-

1. Erling Haaland

The Borussia Dortmund talisman is being tracked by a host of European heavyweights heading into this summer and Liverpool FC are also among the sides believed to have registered interest in the highly-rated forward.

Haaland’s signature is bound to cost any of the interested parties a lot of money and with rumours floating around of Dortmund seeking a €180 million fee to part ways with their attacking sensation this summer, Jurgen Klopp will have a tough task convincing the Liverpool FC board to shell out such an exorbitant fee.

However, should the 20-year-old arrive at Anfield to much fanfare, Haaland will form a lethal frontline combine alongside the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohammad Salah and Diogo Jota.

With 33 goals in just 31 outings already across all competitions this season, there is no doubting the sheer ability of Erling Haaland but the Norwegian international’s price-tag is certain to cause some anxiousness amongst those at the Anfield hierarchy.

The Reds have often failed to emulate their past attacking shows this time around and Haaland’s commanding presence up top might be just what Jurgen Klopp’s side are begging for at this moment.

2. Denis Zakaria

Another of the top talents in Bundesliga football, Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Swiss midfield maestro Denis Zakaria presents himself to be a superb cut-price option for Liverpool FC to target this summer.

The 24-year-old is long linked with an exit from Mönchengladbach at the end of the ongoing campaign with just a year to run on his current deal and recent speculation has claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders are in line to contest for Zakaria’s signing.

As Gini Wijnaldum’s long-drawn contract saga hopes to reach a conclusion following reports of FC Barcelona intensifying their approach for the Liverpool FC first-team regular, Klopp would hope to replace the Dutchman with an able midfield option from the market.

Zakaria’s performances for Mönchengladbach have been applauded by many and the Swiss international looks keen to explore greener pastures come the summer, giving Liverpool FC a huge opportunity to extend an offer and bring the highly-talented defensive midfielder to Anfield.

3. Alessandro Bastoni

The 21-year-old Inter Milan talent Bastoni has displayed a great number of influential showings for the Serie A runaway leaders and talk of the defensive starlet seeking a big-money move to England has gained ground in recent weeks.

Liverpool FC, who have had to bear the brunt of an injury crisis sidelining their three first-choice centre-back options this season, are considered to be right in the mix for Bastoni should Inter Milan consider shipping out the in-demand defender.

Jurgen Klopp acquired Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies on deadline-day earlier this year in January but with the former signing only on a short-term loan deal and Davies failing to feature even once due to injury, the Reds gaffer might be forced to bring in fresh talent in the summer to add to his team’s defensive core.
