Liverpool to table five-year deal for priority target Ibrahima Konaté

Ibrahima Konaté remains a priority target for Liverpool FC and Jurgen Klopp’s side are in line to offer a five-year-long to the France international ahead of the summer transfer window.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that RB Leipzig would part ways with the centre-back only if the Reds shell out the full asking price and no deal has been agreed between the two clubs for now.

Konate is key to Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the summer

The Frenchman has been linked with a switch to Anfield for a number of weeks with the Reds gaffer Jurgen Klopp keen on bringing in quality defensive talent to shore up his injury-depleted options at the back.

With Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk still a long while away from returning to full fitness in light of the duo’s season-ending injury layoffs, Klopp has prioritised a move for the 21-year-old Konate who has emerged as one of the biggest talents in Bundesliga football over the past couple of seasons.

Kabak’s stay could impact Konate’s arrival at Anfield

Ozan Kabak joined the Merseysiders earlier this year in a short-term loan deal with Liverpool FC enjoying the option to trigger his buy-out clause in the summer which would cost them an £18 million fee.

However, should the young Turk become a permanent fixture at Anfield, what remains to be seen is whether Klopp would seek further reinforcements in the form of Konate.
