Jordan Henderson’s recovery from his groin trouble has bee labelled as ‘good’ by Jurgen Klopp but the Liverpool FC gaffer has confirmed that the skipper remains absent from team training.
The 30-year-old Henderson has been sidelined from on-field action since February and has not partaked in any of the last nine outings for the Merseysiders.
Klopp speaks out on Henderson’s progress in return from injury
Speaking ahead of his side facing Leeds United in Premier League action on Monday evening at Elland Road, Klopp refused to divulge much into Henderson’s injury situation despite constant commentary over the Reds captain making a much-awaited return to the Anfield fold.
“I don’t know. He’s not in training yet – I think we can say that and all the rest we will see,” said Klopp to the club’s official website.
“It makes just not too much sense, and I don’t know it really, to make this kind of – in German we say ‘water-level announcements’ – running commentaries.
“I don’t know. He looks good, that’s the good news, but not in training yet.”
Speculation remains over the skipper featuring for England this summer
With Henderson’s recent injury troubles, speculation has persisted since long over the midfield general being available at England boss Gareth Southgate’s disposal for this summer’s UEFA Euros.
Henderson is not the only Liverpool FC first-team regular who is doubtful for the Euros participation with his teammates Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez also on the recovery table at Anfield owing to season-ending injury issues for the centre-back pairing.
