Xherdan Shaqiri’s Anfield exit likely this summer with interest in the player from Serie A clubs

Xherdan Shaqiri is inching close towards what is now an increasingly likely departure from Anfield this summer with the Swiss international a target for a couple of Italy’s top clubs.

Reports from Football Insider claim that Lazio and AS Roma are keeping tabs on the fringe Liverpool FC first-teamer who has seen limited involvement in recent seasons on Merseyside.

Shaqiri keen on seeking an exit in the summer from the Reds

The Swiss international has been on the fringes of Jurgen Klopp’s squad at Anfield over the majority of these past couple of seasons with injuries to the 28-year-old and other alternatives at Klopp’s disposal limiting his gametime.

With two years remaining on his current deal with the Merseyside Reds, the attacker could be available on a cut-price deal come the summer where interested parties would be scrambling for his signature.

Liverpool could sanction Shaqiri’s sale to fund Klopp’s preferred signings

The Anfield giants have been linked with a number of attacking names heading into this summer and should Shaqiri clamour for an exit, Jurgen Klopp could be open to parting ways with the former Stoke City man to free up space in first-team ranks and bring in another player.

Torino’s Andrea Belotti and Dortmund wantaway star Jadon Sancho are two such names high Klopp’s shopping list for the summer who are identified as viable additions to the Liverpool FC camp to bolster Klopp’s options up top on the pitch.
