Liverpool could run into roadblock involving summer swoop for Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho’s potential arrival at Anfield in this summer’s transfer window could fail to materialize should Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool outfit fail to ensure their spot in the Champions League campaign for the next season.

The Merseysiders are languishing outside the top-four zone in the Premier League standings with their miserable title-defense campaign nearing its end in the coming weeks and reports from Sports Witness claim that in the absence of Champions League football, the club would find it difficult to lure big-name players in the summer.

Sancho is one name that is understood to be high on Klopp’s wishlist this summer with the Liverpool gaffer keen to improve his attacking options ahead of the upcoming season and the Dortmund winger’s current form making him a priority target.

But with Dortmund’s rumoured price-tag of  €120 million on Sancho’s head and Liverpool’s failure to generate surplus income in absence of Champions League action next season, the England international forward could be set for an extended stay at the Bundesliga club or seek a new destination.

Christian Falk has also voiced similar sentiments with the journalist claiming that it would become unfeasible for the Anfield giants to propose a move for Sancho should they fail to ensure their spot amongst Europe’s elite clubs in the 2021-22 Champions League campaign.

“That’s not true with one caveat,” said Falk.

“Klopp/Sancho has been around for a while now, and of course, everyone would have loved it to play out like that, but to Liverpool, this summer is not feasible.

“Of course, they can still get in the Champions League, but if they miss out, they will miss out on extra income, so I say that will be nixed this summer.”
