A number of injury issues again threaten to play spoilsport to Liverpool’s chances of staging a much-needed win as the Reds welcome Southampton for weekend action in the Premier League.
Ozan Kabak, James Milner and Naby Keita are all ruled out for the Anfield showdown against the Saints with minor injury niggles.
Rhys Williams comes in for the injured Ozan Kabak
Kabak’s absence due to injury is filled by Rhys Williams with the defensive starlet slotting in at centre-back alongside Nat Phillips who is now back from his recent hamstring trouble
Jurgen Klopp decides against fielding Fabinho in a makeshift centre-back role with the Brazil international instead of turning out in his holding role in the centre of the park.
Jota preferred ahead of Firmino in the front three for Liverpool
It is Diogo Jota who grabs the central striking role for Liverpool ahead of Roberto Firmino with the latter having to suffice with a spot on the bench for Saturday evening’s proceedings on Merseyside.
Jota has enjoyed a relatively superior campaign in front of the goal when compared to Firmino who has endured quite a misfiring one with his last top-flight goal coming all the way back in January.
Here is how both teams line up for today’s Premier League fixture:
