Divock Origi’s £15 million price-tag dismissed by ex-England international Paul Robinson

Former England international shot-stopper Paul Robinson has downplayed the talk of West Ham United shelling out a £15 million fee for signing Anfield outcast Divock Origi in this summer’s transfer window.

Origi has been heavily linked with a move away from Merseyside this summer after the Belgium international’s fall down the pecking order over the past couple of campaigns which has meant sparse first-team involvement coming his way.

West Ham United have been joined by the likes of Southampton and Serie A holders Inter Milan in registering strong interest in landing the signature of Origi who despite his lack of minutes on the football pitch, has sufficient talent to justify the £15 million price-tag slapped on him by Liverpool.

Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson claims that West Ham will not entertain such a proposal with Origi’s lack of first-team action in recent times a major reason why The Hammers boss David Moyes might not seek a move for the Reds forward player.

Robinson added that despite Liverpool’s wants of a sizable fee, Jurgen Klopp’s side are highly unlikely to find any of Origi’s suitors in the transfer market to fork out the asking price.

“I’d be very surprised if West Ham pay £15million for him.”

“I know Liverpool will want that because of their current financial situation but you cannot demand that for a player who has barely played any football over the past 18 months. He’s been a bit-part player.

“David Moyes is looking to sign at least one striker, we know that. They never replaced Haller and they cannot go into next season with just Michail Antonio. He was given too big of a burden to carry last year. It is an area they are going to strengthen in.

“Would they pay £15million for Origi though? I cannot see that.”
