Liverpool set to retain Neco Williams beyond this summer

The highly-promising Welsh full-back Neco Williams is certain to be retained by Liverpool beyond this summer’s transfer window, according to reports from The Atheltic.

Williams had been linked with a move away from Anfield ahead of the start of the new campaign with interest arriving in the youngster from clubs in the Championship as well as the top-flight division in the country.

There had been the talk of Williams seeking regular minutes on the football which have been difficult to come his way on Merseyside with Trent Alexander-Arnold a regular on the Liverpool team sheet in the right-back role.

With Williams impressing for Wales at this summer’s UEFA European Championships, Premier League trio Wolves, Southampton and Leeds United had registered a strong interest in signing the defensive talent on a permanent basis.

Liverpool, however, look likely to retain the player’s services heading into the start of the new Premier League campaign where Jurgen Klopp’s men face the league’s new boys Norwich City on the opening day away from home at Carrow Road.
