Liverpool set to prioritise a contract extension with star player Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah will be the next in line to be offered a new long-term deal at Anfield with Liverpool hoping to tie down their star frontman to extended terms before the transfer window slams shut.

Salah has been one of the most influential players in the Premier League since his move to Merseyside in the summer of 2017 and his contributions to Jurgen Klopp’s side remain unmatched in recent years.

The Egypt international was on the scoresheet during Liverpool’s opening day win of the new season which came at Carrow Road against the league’s new boys Norwich City with Salah finding the back of the net through an exquisite curling effort.

Reports from The Athletic claim that the Liverpool owners are understood to be keen on ensuring that the 28-year-old Salah signs on a new deal and avoid a Gini Wijnaldum-like scenario of entering into his final 12 months of contract at Anfield.

Getting Salah to put pen to paper on an improved Liverpool contract will be of much importance to Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool with the likes of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona likely to end their interest in making a move for the Egyptian winger.
