It is certainly a tough draw on paper for the Premier League giants who will have La Liga holders Atletico Madrid and a high-flying AC Milan outfit to compete against to book their spot in the Last-16 of the tournament.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have got the new season off to a flying start on the domestic front with two wins out of their two opening games against Norwich City and Burnley.
Saturday’s matchup at Anfield against an equally formidable outfit in Chelsea will prove to be the season’s first stern test for the Merseysiders who hope to maintain their rich vein of recent form.
