Injury Update

Roberto Firmino has an injury scare on his hamstring following Chelsea clash

Liverpool’s Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino has an injury scare on his hamstring following the Chelsea clash on Saturday in which the player was withdrawn just before the half-time break.

The Merseysiders were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea who lost Reece James to a red card in the opening 45 minutes and had to play with one man short against a ruthless Liverpool outfit.

Firmino was handed a start in the high-billed clash at Anfield this weekend by Jurgen Klopp and with Liverpool on the search for a leveller after Chelsea took the lead, Diogo Jota was called into action from the bench.

Jota replaced Firmino up top on the pitch with the latter coming off with a slight grimace on his face which led to speculation of an injury concern being the reason behind his withdrawal from the action.

Jurgen Klopp in his post-match press briefing admitted that taking Firmino off the pitch was due to concerns over the player’s suspected hamstring trouble for which the Brazilian will now undergo a scan.

“Serious? I don’t know. Serious enough to take him off, yes.

“Bobby felt his hamstring, came and told us so we had to prepare the change. Bobby is nobody who raises the hand when he doesn’t feel anything.

“It doesn’t look too serious but you never know before you have a scan, which will happen tomorrow.”
