Harvey Elliott was reportedly withdrawn from the England U21 fold during the ongoing international break following an injury scare for the Anfield teenage sensation.
According to The Athletic, the 18-year-old attacker sustained a minor muscle niggle in Liverpool’s stalemate against Chelsea in the Premier League last time around which forced Elliott to miss out on the England Under-21s facing Kosovo in the Euros qualifier.
Elliott, however, remains on track to prove his match fitness to Jurgen Klopp and Co. ahead of this Sunday’s league fixture at Elland Road for Liverpool against Leeds United with the player set to be monitored by the club’s medical staff.
In the absence of new signings to bolster his midfield department, Jurgen Klopp has turned to Elliott for a major role awaiting on the teamsheet for the youngster who has been drafted in the middle of the pitch across the past two outings in top-flight action.
Klopp could be enticed to give Elliott another start over the coming weekend when Liverpool will be backed to continue upon their recent run of form when taking on Leeds United away from home territory.
