Leed United made a loan approach for Curtis Jones this summer with Liverpool quick to turn down the enquiry for their midfield talent who is poised for a major first-team role at Anfield.
Jones has been a talent to watch out for on Merseyside in recent years and with Jurgen Klopp deciding to put off signing a new midfielder in this summer’s transfer window, he is expected to give Jones a push up the pecking order.
Reports from Goal claim that Leeds United sporting director Victor Orta had reached out to the Anfield camp over the possibility of landing Jones on a loan deal but was rebuffed by the Reds for the same.
The 20-year-old Jones, tipped for regular action on the pitch this season for Liverpool, had also been scouted by Aston Villa with Dean Smith understood to have kept close tabs all summer on the England U21 international.
Jones featured in 24 top-flight outings for Liverpool last season, scoring once and registering two assists in the process, while the youngster remains on course to make his first appearance of the new season this time around.
