Roberto Firmino is back in the matchday squad for Liverpool but the Brazilian forward has to settle for a place on the bench for the game against Brentford.
Jurgen Klopp has his star striker to call upon after the player’s injury layoff which prevented him from being available for selection post the international break.
Arnold and Robertson return to the Liverpool backline
It is once again a full-strength defence on display for the visitors Liverpool with both Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk back in their centre-back roles.
Also returning to the starting teamsheet are the full-back pairing of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson after being rested for the midweek win against Norwich City in the third round Carabao Cup fixture.
Curtis Jones handed start for the Reds in midfield
With both Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita out injured for the Merseysiders, it is the young midfield talent Curtis Jones who starts in the centre of the park alongside skipper Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
Jones’ selection is notable with Jurgen Klopp deciding against fielding much more experienced names from his midfield department in James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to deputise for the injury absentees.
Here is how both teams line up for today’s Premier League fixture:
