Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp voices praise for Graham Potter and Brighton

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has voiced praise for Graham Potter and Brighton who are set to make the travels to Anfield on Saturday for the league outing.

Klopp’s Merseyside men have been in terrific form this season and remain unbeaten across all competitions with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane firing on all cylinders.

With the Reds next up against Brighton over the weekend, many expect the former to seal what should be a comfortable win and keep the pressure on the tablet-toppers Chelsea who are just a point adrift of Liverpool in the league standings.

Jurgen Klopp, however, played down such suggestions while speaking to the reporters in his pre-match presser with the Liverpool manager lavishing praise for Brighton’s showings early on in this campaign which have earned Graham Potter’s men rave reviews.

Klopp admitted that playing in front of the Anfield faithful will come as a boost to his players after falling short against Brighton the last time these two sides met towards the backend of the 2020-21 top-flight season.

“I am not sure if you saw Brighton v Manchester City game. It looks from score, it’s a clear win but there were two goals that were counter-attacks, possession, it was 52% to 48%.

“Brighton play football, a real threat, try to create and defend well. They have not scored a lot but don’t concede a lot. I saw the second half as well and they were incredible, to keep the ball and pass like they did against City is a really hard thing to do.

“We lost the last game here against Brighton, so that is another warning but the big difference is Anfield will be packed to help.

“That helps us usually. We have to be really good and we need people with the right understanding because they will have their moments. We need to be spot on defensively and with the ball as well.

“I could not respect more what he is doing there. He is a top-class manager.”
