Liverpool were in for another setback with Sadio Mane injured during Senegal duty as the star winger was brought off the pitch in the World Cup qualifier against Togo.
Jurgen Klopp’s camp have had an injury nightmare of late with the likes of Joe Gomez, Curtis Jones and most recently Roberto Firmino joining the recovery table at Anfield with lengthy layoffs.
Firmino, Mane’s partner in the forward lineup for Liverpool, looks set for a month-long spell on the sidelines with a hamstring issue and Jurgen Klopp could now have Mane too in line to miss the forthcoming fixture list after the current international break.
Reports from The Daily Express claim that Mane was involved in a collision with a Togo defender and had to be withdrawn with Villarreal forward Boulaye Dia taking his place on the pitch.
Liverpool’s lack of depth in the attacking roles is understood to be a major concern for Klopp with speculation rife that the Liverpool manager could be in the market come January for reinforcements.
