Raheem Sterling wants Liverpool return amid Manchester City exit speculation

Raheem Sterling wants a return to his former side Liverpool amid the speculation of his exit from the Manchester City fold in the forthcoming transfer windows.

The England international has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium and rumours suggest that with the January window approaching, Sterling could be in line to seal a move elsewhere and get his career back on track.

A return to his old hunting ground Anfield is being mooted by the Manchester City winger, according to reports from Spanish news outlet El El Nacional, despite City’s reluctance on his sale to a Premier League rival club.

La Liga heavyweights FC Barcelona, who recently appointed club icon Xavi to the managerial role, are understood to be keeping close tabs on Sterling’s situation with Xavi keen to add to his attacking options in the next summer.

The incoming Barcelona boss has his sights on Liverpool mainstay Mohamed Salah, claims the rumour mill, with the Egyptian yet to sign on extended terms with Jurgen Klopp’s side as other clubs track his contract standoff.
