Liverpool register interest in making a move for Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski

Liverpool are credited with an interest in making a move for Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski who has been a longstanding target at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp had eyed up a move for the Poland international maestro during his days at Udinese only for Zielinski to switch over to Napoli as rebuffed interest from the Merseyside giants in the process.

According to a report by the Italian news outlet Calciomercato, it is claimed that the Reds remain keen on landing the midfielder’s signature despite his current deal with Napoli due to expire no sooner than the summer of 2024.

The Reds boss Klopp’s search for reinforcements in midfield has been underway since the departure of the long-serving anchorman Gini Wijnaldum who made the move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer on a free transfer.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita have both failed to impress with their extended run of first-team action this season with speculation rife that either of the two could be deemed surplus to requirements ahead of the next campaign’s start.
