Real Madrid are understood to be keeping close tabs on Liverpool’s fringe first-teamer Joe Gomez with a potential move lined up for the next summer.
The England international central defender has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield this season following his return from a long-term spell on the sidelined with a freak injury in the last campaign.
Jurgen Klopp has his summer recruit Ibrahima Konate to provide cover for Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip in the heart of the defence which has ensured far less than the regular first-team involvement Gomez had under his belt in previous seasons.
According to a report from The Daily Mail, it is suggested that Real Madrid are tracking Gomez’s situation at Liverpool closely with the La Liga outfit eyeing up reinforcements for their defensive ranks in the summer of 2022.
The likes of Antonio Rudiger, Pau Torres and Jules Kounde are the other names on the shopping list for the Spaniards with the boss Carlo Ancelotti keen on bringing in fresh blood for the backline in time for the start of the next campaign.
