Jurgen Klopp admitted that it was a tough task for his Liverpool side to keep pace with the league leaders Manchester City following the Reds’ defeat to Leicester City.
Liverpool failed to turn out at their very best against an inspired Leicester side at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday with substitute Ademola Lookman netting the winner in the second period to secure the win for his side.
It was a poor display away from home turf for the Merseysiders with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane failing to make the most of glorious chances in the final third as Salah was denied from the spot early on in the first half.
The result meant that Manchester City have now opened up a six-point gap at the summit over second-placed Liverpool with the former well poised to become the runaway leaders and defend the top flight crown.
Speaking to Amazon Prime ( via The Daily Express), Jurgen Klopp said that Manchester City had a sizable gap on his team who will hope to return to winning ways on the back of an underwhelming display in the Midlands.
“It’s a big gap [to City].
“In this moment it is not my problem. If we play our normal football, Liverpool football, we have the chance to win more football games.
“A defeat is a defeat. We have to learn and we will. The first thing is not to do it ever again like this. We lost our rhythm and weren’t calm enough to get it back. That’s our fault.”
