Jurgen Klopp provides encouraging update on Divock Origi’s return from injury

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provided an encouraging update on Divock Origi’s return from injury ahead of the Brentford clash come Sunday.

There is speculation that Origi is nearing his return to on-field action since the backend of the last year with the Belgian’s last outing coming against AC Milan in the Champions League group stage game at San Siro.

Klopp sounded out hope during his pre-match press conference when quizzed upon Origi’s recovery progress with the German confirming that the striker had been involved in training and was likely to return soon.

“Likely back soon. Yesterday he was back running outside, think he will not be too far away.”

With Klopp losing both his star wide players in Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, Origi’s return from an extended injury issue would provide the depleted Liverpool ranks a shot in the arm.

The Liverpool No.27 could prove to be a pivotal figure in the final third of the pitch for the Merseyside bigwigs who put out an unconvincing display against Arsenal in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals earlier this week.
