Brighton vs Liverpool Preview, Team News, Key Battle and Prediction | PL 21-22

Liverpool are on the road to Brighton in Saturday’s Premier League action with Jurgen Klopp’s men eyeing the three points from the outing.

The Merseysiders last turned out midweek at Anfield against Serie A giants bigwigs Inter Milan who handed a shock defeat to the home side with Latuoro Martinez’s strike sealing the 1-0 win.

Jordan Henderson and Co, however, despite the defeat are through to the last eight of the Champions League but would be backed to shift their focus back to top flight football this coming weekend.

A high-flying Liverpool side have been upbeat on all fronts in domestic action as of late and few would suggest that the Reds come out second best against an under-fire Brighton outfit at the Amex come Saturday.

Graham Potter’s men have won only once on home turf since the backend of last year and with the drop in form visible from the Seagulls, Liverpool will have all the more incentive to put out a solid display and claim the win.

Liverpool’s 12-game winning streak in all competitions came to a close with the loss to Inter but Klopp would be counting on his players to deliver when they take on Brighton in the forthcoming game with the visitor’s strong favourites to clinch the result.

WHEN & WHERE?

Date: Saturday 12 March 2022

Time: 12:30 PM GMT

Venue: American Express Community Stadium

TEAM NEWS

Roberto Firmino is tipped for a return to the Liverpool fold following a lengthy spell on the sidelines with hamstring trouble with Klopp set for a welcome boost on the injury front with the Brazilian forward back in the ranks.

A minor injury concern for the Reds would be the French central defender Ibrahima Konate who picked up a knock earlier in the week.

Jordan Henderson and Luis Diaz are primed for a recall with both Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota expected to drop down to the bench.

For the home side Brighton, centre-back Adam Webster is set to sit out the weekend affair with a groin injury while Enock Mwepu and Jeremy Sarmiento, both long-term absentees for Graham Potter, are in the fray for a return.

KEY BATTLE

Lewis Dunk vs Mohamed Salah

Dunk will emerge as the mainstay at the back for hosts Brighton who are missing Adam Webster to injury but the former is likely to face a tall task in taking on Liverpool dangerman Mohamed Salah.

Salah, who had a rare outing of uninspiring form in front of the goal last time around against Inter Milan, will be looking to get back in among the goals as he chases Golden Boot glory come the end of the campaign.

MATCH PREDICTION

Liverpool head into the upcoming contest billed as the strong favourites and it would be a shock to not see the Merseysiders pick up the three points to close the gap on Manchester City at the summit.

Brighton 0-3 Liverpool
