Liverpool are reportedly ready to trigger Gavi’s £41 million buyout clause this coming summer to land the promising teenage midfielder from FC Barcelona.
The youngster’s contract at Camp Nou is due to expire in the summer of 2023 and Barca’s efforts to tie him down to a new long-term deal have proven futile owing to his wage demands.
With the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp on the hunt for midfield reinforcements ahead of the start of the new season, there is speculation doing the rounds that the Anfield camp are in line to table a formal bid for their longstanding target Gavi.
According to a report from the Spanish news outlet Sport, it is claimed that Barca are set to put on hold the ongoing renewal talks with Gavi which could mean a welcome boost on the transfer front for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp.
The Merseysiders, meanwhile, would be encouraged to step up the chase for the 17-year-old Gavi who also has the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich eyeing up his signature.
